Fort Lauderdale Makes Livability.Com’s Top Ten “Best Downtowns” List
Speak to anyone who lives in and around downtown Fort Lauderdale and you will hear a resounding, “This is the best place to live!” It appears that Livability.com soundly agrees and has placed it on their 10 Best Downtowns. Fort Lauderdale was the only Florida city to make the list.
This is quite a milestone for the city that was always know for not much more than Spring Break until the city came together and formed a master plan that has resulted in a dynamic urban core that many enjoy.
Now it is the world that is noticing the leaps and bounds that Fort Lauderdale has done over the past decade. Livability.com bases this list on downtowns that offer a high level of energy that gives residents a reason to live, work and play in their backyards. On top of the dynamics, improved retail, office vacancy, income increases and job ratios all led to Fort Lauderdale making the list.
All proving that people want to live where they work. The selection of residential units that have been completed in the past decade laid the ground work for the transformation. There are an additional 4,000 residential units in development and exciting initiatives that will continue to reshape the city scene and enhance the vibrant urban life.
According to Mayor Jack Seiler, “These improvements, coupled with our outstanding quality of life, continue to strengthen downtown Fort Lauderdale’s position as an outstanding place to do business and an even better place to call home.”
This announcement comes on the heels of Money Magazine placing Fort Lauderdale on their list of Top 10 Best Places to Retire To just 3 months ago. Let’s just say that that we are off to a running start.
